Parents must supervise and be responsible for their children at all times. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times when in the Gardens

Health & Safety

You will encounter many natural hazards in the gardens and the following simple precautions will make your visit all the more enjoyable:

  • Take care on uneven ground – steps and surfaces can be hazardous

  • Wear sensible shoes/boots, appropriate to the weather conditions. Many of the paths are not formalised and can become muddy and slippery

  • Do not cross any fences, barriers or roped off areas

  • Open water feature in Walled Garden and Rock Garden. Please supervise children at all times and do not enter the water

  • Be careful of steep banks and of drops, some of which are disguised by low walls

  • Do not eat any plants or berries, they may be poisonous

  • Be careful not to trip over roots and fallen timber in wooded areas

  • Please do not climb on trees or rhododendrons

  • Please do not touch any of the sculpture

  • Please do not chase the Yeti

Property Loss & Damage

Riverhill Gardens may hold you liable for any damage caused by you to the property or any of its contents or for any injury caused to any of our representatives or other visitors during your visit.

Riverhill Gardens Ltd excludes all liability for any loss, damage to personal property or injury to visitors, howsoever caused, but does not exclude liability where any death or injury is caused by the negligence of Riverhill Gardens Ltd or its staff.

Garden Facility Closure

Riverhill Gardens reserves the right to close all or part of the Gardens and activities, and to change or cancel events.

Entrance

All prices are correct at the time of publishing. However, they are subject to change without prior notice.

All guests entering Riverhill Gardens must have a valid entrance ticket.

All visitors using any discount codes must bring the correct, valid supporting documentation with them and present it to the Ticket Office on arrival. Failure to do so will mean that you will need to pay full price for your entry.

Riverhill Gardens Ltd reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to refuse entry or admission or to remove from Riverhill Gardens any visitor. 

Historic House members are admitted FOC. You must present a valid HH membership card on arrival or you will be liable to pay full entrance price. Historic House Membership is NOT valid on group bookings.

Gardeners World 2 for 1 cards: Only valid with one full paying adult. Not to be used on group bookings or in conjunction with any other offer. Each card can only be used once to admit two people (with one being FOC). You must bring the correct number of valid cards with you to show the Ticket Office. If you do not have the physical cards with you you will be liable to pay the difference.

RHS Members: FREE entry on a WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY only. Free entry for the person with the asterisk on the back or front of their membership card. One person from a joint membership (indicated by the asterisk on your card). All other persons will need to pay. RHS CARDS ARE NOT VALID FOR GROUP BOOKINGS.

Photography & Filming

Photography is allowed for non-commercial private use. No drones permitted.

All commercial photography and photoshoots by prior arrangement only please. We allow exclusive use of Riverhill for photoshoots when the Gardens are closed to the public (Usually Monday and Tuesdays). Fees apply. Contact us for more info.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome in the Gardens as long as they’re kept on a lead at all times. With the exception of assistance dogs, dogs are not allowed in some areas. Please pick up after them and use the dog poo bin. We have poo bags available at the Ticket Office - just ask if you need any.

Car Parking

Car parking is free for Riverhill visitors only (gardens, shop or cafe). Riverhill Gardens cannot be held responsible for any damage caused to vehicles by other visitors whilst using our car parks.

If any of these Terms and Conditions should be determined to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable by reason of the laws of any state or country in which these Terms and Conditions are intended to be effective, then to the extent and within the jurisdiction which that Term or Condition is illegal, invalid or unenforceable, it shall be severed and deleted from this clause and the remaining Terms and Conditions shall survive, remain in full force and effect and continue to be binding and enforceable.

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Disputes arising here from shall be exclusively subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

7. Rules and Regulations

Occasionally within the site you may find other rules or terms relating to specific material which may conflict with or contradict these terms and conditions. These could be rules for competitions, specific download requirements, or prize draws, for example. If there is any conflict then the rules or terms relating to specific material will win out over the more general terms and conditions.

Riverhill Gardens Ltd takes your privacy seriously and will only use the personal information you have provided to administer your account and to deliver the products and services you have requested from us.

Online Shop Terms

You must accept these terms before you can proceed with your online booking. Tickets are sold subject to the following terms and conditions:

Day Tickets / Season Tickets

Tickets cannot be resold, exchanged, or refunded.

All day tickets and Season Tickets have no monetary value.

Lost or damaged tickets can only be replaced with proof of purchase.

Children 15 years and under must be supervised by an adult at all times whilst visiting Riverhill Gardens.

Season Tickets may only be used by the named holder and are not transferable.

The holder agrees to abide by any bye-laws and regulations which may apply to Riverhill Garden.

Season Tickets are valid for the current season ONLY, usually March – October. See current opening times for this season’s dates.

Season Tickets are not refundable.

Riverhill Gardens are closed November - March. However, they may also close to the public without prior notice being given and the management of Riverhill Gardens reserve the right to refuse entry.

Season ticket upgrades can only be made on the day of your first visit. Upgrades are only possible to do in the Gardens at the time of your visit. You are not able to upgrade after you have left the gardens.

A day ticket (purchased on the same day) can be used against the cost of the corresponding Season Ticket only e.g. an adult ticket can only be used to upgrade to an adult Season Ticket.

Gift Vouchers

Your voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.

We will not exchange your voucher for cash or refund and it must be used in full as no change will be given

Events Terms

Children’s Activities

All children/family activities run by Riverhill are subject to availability and may be cancelled, postponed or changed at any time without prior notice. Although your entrance ticket includes access to any free family/children’s activities run by Riverhill, spaces are subject to availability. We make no guarantee that any specific event will be available on any date, as we are dependent on suppliers and staffing. No refunds or partial refunds for garden entrance fees will be given on the basis of any activity’s cancellation or postponement.

Children must be supervised by a responsible adult during all craft and family activities and events at Riverhill. No unsupervised children will be permitted to take part in any craft activity.

Art Exhibitions

Exhibitions are subject to change and art pieces shown on our website or in promotional material may not be representative of the final works on display.

Theatre & Performance

Please bring either a print out of your email confirmation, or be prepared to show the email on your mobile device.  

If light showers are forecast the performance will continue. Please do check the weather forecast in advance, and remember to bring your umbrellas and waterproofs if required.

Performances are only cancelled in storm conditions. In the unfortunate event that a performance does need to be cancelled due to weather conditions, the decision will be made 30 minutes before curtain up. An announcement will be made to the audience within The Walled Garden and on Facebook. 

Theatre tickets are non-refundable.

If the performance is unfortunately cancelled due to storm conditions before the performance has started you will be offered a refund for your tickets. The decision to cancel the performance will not be made until 30 minutes before curtain up. If the decision is made to cancel the performance, an announcement will be posted on Facebook.

If the performance is unfortunately cancelled due to storm conditions after the performance has started you will be offered tickets to an alternative performance when possible. We will only be able to offer tickets to alternative performances where tickets are still available.

School Visits

All children must be supervised by their teachers / helpers

We recommend a ration of 6 children per adult.

Full risk assessment is available on request

We strongly advise that teachers visit Riverhill ahead of their visit to conduct their own risk assessment specific to the needs of their group.

All coaches must drop off by the main house. We do not permit drop-offs at the top of the drive.

Schools must share our information for coaches with their coach provider.

All children remain the responsibility of their school whilst at Riverhill.

Coaches must only access Riverhill from the TOP of Riverhill (Sevenoaks end). They must NOT turn right across the traffic into Riverhill.

Discounted group rates can only be applied on groups of 20 and above. 100 is our maximum.

An invoice will be given to you on the day of your visit and payment can either be made on the day( we accept all major debit and credit cards, cash and cheques (payable to Riverhill Himalayan Gardens). Or you can pay the invoice after the visit by Cheque or BACs, in line with our payment terms.

Group Visits

When you visit as a group the total cost must be paid in a single payment and group rates can only be applied if your group comprises of 12 people or more, and you all arrive in the grounds together.

Our maximum group size is 56 people.

RHS, Historic Houses and Gardener’s World 2 for 1 cards are NOT accepted with group visits.

We accept all major debit and credit cards, cash and cheques (payable to Riverhill Himalayan Gardens).

You can make changes to group numbers until 5 days before your visit, after which time no more alterations can be made and you will need to pay for the agreed number of attendees.

Please also make sure that the coach company you are using for your trip is familiar with our access and parking requirements. They must drop off by the house and never on the main road and they must access Riverhill from the Sevenoaks end (coming down the hill). Coaches must not attempt to turn right across the traffic into Riverhill.

The paths here can be a little uneven and steep at points and we recommend that everyone wears flat, sturdy footwear. If you have any concerns over access for any of your group then please let me know so we can discuss options.
